Singer and former TV presenter Tuff B, real name Robert Sekidde, says he is doing fine financially after leaving NBS TV to start his political career. He says he has been saving money for years to prepare for this move.
Many people often wonder how media personalities survive after losing their jobs, especially when they enter politics. Tuff B is one of the latest to face this question after being laid off earlier this year.
But Tuff B says this was not a sudden decision. He shares that he has dreamed of becoming a Member of Parliament since 2019, and he has been working hard and saving money to make it happen. He also says his family and friends are supporting him in this journey.
“I’ve worked for 15 years,” he said. “Do you think I’ve been earning stones? How do you think I’m running this campaign? I’ve already organized five football tournaments in my area and helped many sick people in Kansanga. Where do you think that money comes from?”
Tuff B explains that when you have a big dream, you must plan ahead and save for it. He says he told his close friends back in 2019 that he would run for Parliament in 2026, and they started planning together.
“We’re lucky to have good friends and family. When you share your dream with them, they help you fundraise and prepare. We have the resources to win this campaign,” he added.
Tuff B also revealed that part of his savings came from his good salary at Next Media and his long-time role as a brand ambassador for MTN Uganda, which lasted 10 years.
